David J. Ruyle, Jr.
David J. Ruyle, Jr. was born and raised in San Diego, California. For many years he worked with his brother and father who were both attorneys. He was called to assist client’s in a different because he desired getting out in the community more and appearing in court courtroom. He often tells people that they don’t need a television they can watch real life drama unfold in a courtroom. This calling lead to helping people with criminal defense and restraining orders. Even though they may appear vastly different, both types of cases require patience and understanding with each client while navigating working on resolution paralleled with an aggressive presentation for court. As a sole practitioner he only takes cases he can handle himself, this includes from the initially meeting through trial. His caseload is kept at a level where he has a generous amount of time to spend on each case.
In 1998, Mr. Ruyle received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University. In 2002, Mr. Ruyle earned his law degree from Trinity Law School. As a student in law school, David interned with the San Diego County Public Defender’s office in El Cajon where he was exposed to felony and misdemeanor related matters. This is where the seed was planted to make a difference one person at a time.
After a few years of practicing he wanted to adventure out and get a better understanding of law enforcement and further serve his community. After almost a full year of attending the police academy he graduated from the Southwestern College Police Academy receiving his POST. He was become a Reserve Police Officer with the City of El Cajon in 2007. Mr. Ruyle was exposed to many matters such as DUI, domestic violence, narcotic, and many other issues that peace officers encounter daily. He enjoyed participating in many outreach events sponsored by the police department. As Mr. Ruyle remained in the reserve force while practicing law, he was able to effectively apply his experience as an officer to representing his clients in their cases and addressing their needs.
Although he has since resigned his position with the City of El Cajon to spend more time with his family and focus on his legal career, he enjoys sharing the knowledge he acquired as an officer. His passion for sharing his knowledge led him to teach in the Criminal Justice courses for both Westwood College and the University of Phoenix. Additionally, Mr. Ruyle works with students who are studying for the Bar Exam which has done since he has done since he was licensed which keeps him sharp and upraised or developments in other legal fields.
Although Mr. Ruyle was raised along the coast he enjoys the East County lifestyle of RV camping, horseback riding, meeting with his brothers at his local Masonic Lodge and attending social events at a local Elks lodge.
Mr. Ruyle is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the California Public Defender’s Association.
